Wild Woman Rising
An 8-week Creative Rite of Passage for the midlife Good Girl who's ready to stop hiding her ideas, opinions and creativity and finally turn what's inside her into something real.
You've spent years doing what was expected of you, second-guessing yourself and masking the parts that are seen as socially unacceptable.
Doing everything right. Doing well at school, college and university.
You've built a career, a warm, loving home for your children, and you've been the glue holding it all together:
Making sure homework is completed
Organising the meals (knowing everyone's preferences)
Planning the holidays
Budgeting, caring, lending, taxi-ing.
Maybe this has felt like a burden. A role you have had to play. A mask you have had to wear to fit in and be accepted.
But now the children have grown up
(perhaps the husband has too lol)
and you're asking:
What do I actually want to say, create and be known for?

You are tired of people pleasing and feeling the pressures of having to be perfect.
You are spiritual, creative and tolerant of others regardless of differences.
You are at a threshold - you have come through a life changing experience and you want something different from your midlife years
You are craving to paint with expression and create art that feels like you
You are always putting off the projects, visions and missions for 'one day...
You are outgrowing the roles you have played and want to explore who you are evolving into.
You have no time for spiritual practices and exploring the power of your intuition is not for you
You are not willing to be inclusive or share time with others who are from different backgrounds, colour, faith or gender.
You want to learn how to paint with technique and from instruction following step by step processes
You are deep in the throes of trauma - there are other experts who would serve you better
You are looking to paint and only make art - you do not want to dig deep into what your art may show you.
Each week, I'll bring you a powerful story about a woman
who faces fear, loss, transformation, desire, intuition or the unknown.
But you won't simply listen to the story.
You'll step inside it.
You'll become one of the characters in the story. You'll respond to their experiences as if they were your own, and use colour, image, words and intuition
to create your response as the story unfolds.
I might ask you to draw their journey into the forest.
To create a symbol for their fear.
To show what they long for.
To paint what they discover.
And then we'll look at what you've created
and explore what it might be revealing to you.
Because your creative self knows something
before your conscious mind does.

Wild Woman Rising isn’t about becoming a different person.
It’s about becoming more willing to listen to yourself, trust what you know, express what matters to you and act on the ideas that won’t leave you alone.
You’ll begin trusting your own ideas, instincts and creative impulses instead of constantly looking outside yourself for permission.

Not what you think you should want. What matters to you now and what you want to create in this next chapter.

The opinions, ideas, desires and creative urges you’ve been keeping quiet can finally be expressed.

Move from “One day…” towards actually doing something about the book, artwork, project or idea that keeps calling you.

Through your art, your ideas, your work and your choices without making yourself pallatable to keep everyone else comfortable.

You’ll begin to recognise which parts of the identity you’ve carried still belong to you and which ones you’re ready to leave behind.

Because this is ultimately about shedding the identity you’ve inherited and beginning to make choices from the woman you’re becoming.

"All of the limiting ideas I had about my ability to produce a piece of art have fallen away. Each meeting was a different lesson on different artistic media. I’ve spent YEARS not even thinking about creating art and here, Sarah showed me some really simple techniques that have completely changed my perspective and allowed me to create pieces I had no idea were inside me! But also, the Journey...Each meeting was a different topic, a different “story”, a different way to look at myself. This program has been instrumental in me discovering that some of the things I really didn’t like about myself are actually my POWERS".

Eight weekly live group sessions using myths and fairy tales so that you can explore your own life as a story that can be revised, rewritten and reshaped.
Each session includes and art ritual - a guided creative process where you draw, make marks, add symbols and colour while responding to the story so that your creative self can reveal something before your conscious mind knows it.
Guided questions and prompts shared in a Telegram Group so you can begin recognising the patterns, desires and possibilities that are emerging.
Permission to experiment, play, imagine and explore parts of yourself that don't usually get much airtime so you can step outside the roles, expectations and “shoulds” that have shaped how you've learned to be.
A supportive space to share your artwork and reflections with like minded women so you can be witnessed, encouraged and challenged by those also asking bigger questions about what comes next.
Eight weeks where you deliberately put aside time to explore yourself, your creativity and what you want next so your ideas don't remain another thing on the “one day” list.
"This has been a fabulous experience so cathartic I've been amazed at what it's brought up for me. It just amazing how you expertly weave these courses together Sarah you never disappoint your brilliance astounds me. This has been so uplifting. I've released heaps and produced such beautiful artwork. This was a very cosy group very intimate which worked well and I feel brought out so much depth from us all. We were able to connect well with each other and share and empathise which further helped me release more just so impactful. I'm beyond grateful to have taken part. Highly recommend this beautiful journey🩷🫂"

I’m Sarah, your Art Mentor, Creativity Guide and fully fledged Wild Woman.
I know what it’s like to be the woman who does what’s expected.
To be responsible. To be sensible. To put other people first. To have ideas and dreams but somehow always find a reason to wait.
And I also know what happens when you start listening to that wild woman voice inside you — the one that says there’s more for me than this.
Art became one of the ways I found my way back to myself because I discovered what can happen when you stop trying to get it right and start paying attention to what wants to emerge.
Over the years, my own art practice has become a way of exploring identity, intuition, emotion, story and the wild, creative parts of ourselves that can so easily get pushed aside.
And Wild Woman Rising grew from that experience.
I created it for women who know there is something inside them that wants to be expressed whether it is an idea, a body of work, a book, a new direction, a different way of living, but who may have spent years learning to quiet that voice.
I’m not here to tell you who you should become.
I’m here to create the space, stories and creative experiences that help you hear yourself more clearly — and discover what happens when you start trusting what you hear.

"If only everyone could feel the love and connection that you provide during our sessions. I was telling someone about the guided imagery and meditation you lead us through and how calming and centering it is. I wish everyone would get a taste of it. And I would do it every day if that were possible! You have made my life infinitely better".
~ Constance Fantin, Minnesota

We start w/beg 12th October. As soon as I know who has joined us I will work out a day and time that suits us all.
All details will be sent to you via email in the week before we start.
Each weekly live session is 90mins. I will add other optional prompts in our telegram group which you can do if you wish and it is up to you how much extra time you wish to spend on them.
You can most definitely be a beginner artist or have some experience in another related area like crafting.
This is about using our art and creativity as a modality for self discovery rather than a course to paint with technique.
Yes! Replays will be available. It is however important for you to let me know if you cannot attend live as each session needs at least 2 people for it to be effective. In the case of less than 2, I will cancel and resume the following week.
Acrylic paints and brushes and sketch book or art journal are essential.
It doesn't matter what acrylics you choose, but I suggest a sketchbook with paper of at least 200gsm
In addition to the above, I recommend using what you have available from felt tip pens to colouring pencils.
Optional: oil pastels, water colours, acrylic pens and acrylic inks.
You can email us with any questions at hellocreativity@sarahbowdenart.com
